Call for Proposals

Call for Proposals
Exhibitions and Events wanted!

Students are invited to submit proposals for exhibitions and events at the J & J Smith Gallery, 117 Smith Hall. Exhibitions are usually scheduled to run from Thursdays to Thursdays, with an opening or closing reception. Events can occur at any time.

Proposals can be for solo or group exhibitions, and events such as live music, performance, screenings, workshops, interactive video craziness, discussions, weird art happenings, etc. You will be expected to help with installation and other details of the exhibition/event. The J & J Smith Gallery can provide tools, installation hardware, pedestals, a 52” flat screen monitor, a video projector, a PA system, and other things. We can provide photocopying/printing for any publicity.  We are flexible and have a small budget.

APPLICATION GUIDELINES

  • There is no deadline, but the schedule may fill up, so plan ahead.
  • Proposal should include a short (250-500 word) written statement that tells us any theme, central idea, or reason for the exhibition/event. Describe who will be involved. Images, URLs, etc. can also be submitted. Let us know if you have any special requirements (equipment, furniture, etc).
  • Contact person: provide the email and phone number of a main contact person.
  • Email proposals to info@jsmithgallery.org

SELECTION PROCESS
A student committee will review all proposals and make selections.
